After Joseph Beuys and Andy Warhol met for the first time in May 1979 at the Hans Meyer Gallery in Düsseldorf, the two artists met again in Naples in 1980. The occasion was Andy Warhol's "Joseph Beuys" exhibition on April 1, 1980 in Lucio Amelio's gallery, with nine screen-printed portraits that Warhol had made of Beuys, after a meeting in New York, with Polaroid photographs.
